Blister Pack:

s16 blister

Here is a single blister pack from Prostars Series 16, which was released to coincide with the upcoming 2002 World Cup being co-hled in Japan and South Korea. The official release date for this series was the 8th of April 2002.

As with series 15 the generic backing card design was dropped and in it's place was a specially designed graphic, featuring the flags of the 10 nations represented in this series.

The best seller from the range as a single blister was mercurial Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, with del Piero, Totti and Figo all selling very well.

Taribo West was solely released as a single blister and not available inside any of the mulitpacks, so his figure was very highly sought after by collectors.

There were not many West blisters produced, this was done to keep the figure collectable and is certainly worked, even today a blister of west can sell for around the £10.

 Platinum Pack:

Here is a Platinum pack from Prostars Series 16.

These packs are the same Prostars figures but they have been repackaged into Platinum packs and were made in very small numbers.

This was the second series to feature Platinum pack figures painted with Silver bases, a change made by Corinthian after listening to it's collector club members and also taking on board the comments made by their dedicated resellers.

Platinum packs are seen as Corinthian's premier collectors product and were not available for direct sale. The only way to get these Platinum packs was buy spending a certain amount with Corinthian on thier products.

The most valuable from this series is Taribo West in the Nigeria home kit, he can sell for in excess of £20 with the others in the series going for a little less.

Corinthian teamed up with Vivid to produce a series of 6 different 3 player packs of the World Superstars and the figures were sold in major high street chain stores like Woolworths and Toys 'r' Us, Corinthians were being brought back to the masses!

As this was a more heavily produced item, no collector cards were issued but the packs represented great value, as they retailed at around £6, so were ideal if you were collecting the figures to display them loose.

In total 18 of the 20 figures were released in the 3 player packs, the 2 ommited from inclusion are Trezeguet and West.

Below is a table which lists all 6 packs and also details the 3 figures found inside each pack.
