In June 1998 Corinthian teamed up with McDonalds in Denmark to produce a set of 12 figures in the Danish national kit
These figures were given away in the McDonalds restaurants in their version of the 'happy meal.' As a result the figures were only issued in clear sachet format and no collector cards were issued for this release. A small card did come with the figures which depicted the full range of figures available.
As these figures were done by Corinthian in collaboration with another company, they used the 'Oval' shaped base for the figures.
Corinthian really went to town on this release and produced many first time sculpts, the majority of which have never been released again. The Laudrup brothers; Michael and Brian, were obvious choices for release and Corinthian used the same facial sculpt for the Michael Laudrup as they used for the Ajax figure, although the Danish version was much more refined and detailed. The Brian Laudrup has never been released again making it very collectable.
Peter Schmeichel has been produced by Corinthian many times but i feel this is the best sculpt they ever made of him and that is including the 'Prostars Elite' figures too. A really great likeness and an interesting kit made this figure a hit with collectors.
Marc Rieper had previously been released in the FAPL Collection range for West Ham United, however this sculpt was an all new one and again, a far superior one in my opinion.
The remaining 8 figures are all first and only time sculpts, non of them have been released by Corinthian again. The Allan Nielsen was penned to be released for Tottenham Hotspur as part of the FAPL Collection range but as i have never seen an image of that particular master i cannot guarantee it would have been the same sculpt, nor indeed if it was ever more than an idea on a piece of paper!
The figure of Peter Schmeichel became the 4th Headliner to be officially retired by Corinthian, he was done so on the 28th of July 2000, along with Michael and Brian Laudrup, Jes Hogh, Marc Rieper, Thomas Helveg and also Allan Nielsen. The remaining 6 have never actually been officially retired by Corinthian but they hold no stock of the figures so i guess you can class them as retired.
A fantastic set to have with a host of original sculpts and one time releases, a must for the serious collector.

Collector File
Pictured here is the collector file that came issued with the Denmark national figures.
The collector file was a single piece of card with the figure images on the front and the player names on the back. Above each figure was a numer which corresponded to a players name on the back.
As these figures were released in 'McDonalds' restaurants throughout Denmark, Corinthian saw no need to do an elaborate collector file and kept things to a minimum.
