1. When did you start collecting?
My first ever figure was back in 1995 when they were first launched. I only had 3 or 4 at the time but it wasn't until around 2000 when my addiction started to take off and it became more serious. Having started working and earning money, plus the discovery of ebay later on didnt help either lol.
2. Why did you start collecting?
Back in 1995, my friends came to school with them and i was really intruiged as to what they were. When i discovered they had Celtic figures, i then tried to swap the ones i had for the ones i needed. Again, back in the early days, the only way to find out who was available was by the back of the packs and by going into the shops to see what was there.
3. Which was the very first figure you purchased?
My first figure was a loose Des Walker of Sheffield Wednesday (unsure of how i came by this figure if im honest) but i quickly swapped him for a loose Pierre Van Hooijdonk.
4. What is your all time favourite Corinthian figure?
Every single player wearing the kit of Celtic are all jointly special to me but if i had to pick just the one, i would have to say that my all time favourite figure would be that of Henrik Larsson from the Prostars series 5 release. The reason for this is that this was Henrik's firstst appearance in the Hoops and he had his trademark dreadlocks. Having witnessed Henrik scoring many great goals for Celtic, he has become my favourite Celtic player i have ever seen and feel that the quality of this sculpt is second to none.
5. What is the most you have ever paid for a single figure and which figure was it?
The most i have paid for 1 single figure is £220 - this is actually joint top as i bought two at that price - which was for unreleased Master Model sculpts of Jackie Mcnamara and Bobby Petta, both from the Fans Favourite range. The most i have paid for a single released figure is £75 for a Prostar series 9 Eyal Berkovic Redemption figure in which there was only '90' released. (i now have two of these)
6. What is the best bargain you have ever picked up?
Hmm, i have never been a big bargain hunter as if i needed a figure, i would pay what it took to get it. Saying that, i do have my limits!! Probably one of my better buys would be a Shunsuke Nakamura Select 500 Blister for £25. These still retail for over £60 even in todays market.
7. Which figure did you most struggle to acquire?
Being a collector of various formats as apposed to just single figures, one of the hardest 'figures' i struggled to acquire was the Celtic Headliner 4 player pack CT4C. Having NEVER seen one, it took me about 6 years to finally track one down and within this time i even doubted myself if it even existed! When i finally managed to track it down, i could not hide my excitement, nor my wallet for that matter. This RARE 4player blister set me back a whopping £120, but i ask myself, who else has got one? ;-)
8. How many figures do you have in your collection?
Honestly, i have no idea! Obviously not as many as Craig, but i have every single Celtic Headliner/Prostar release. I also collect microstars (which Craig sees as a swear word) and have almost every one of those too. The only 1 i need to finish off the bulk of the collection is that of Thomas Gravesen from the series 15 Swedish release on the GOLD BASE. I have taken a picture of where he should sit so please feel free to give me yours if you have a spare one kicking about. As the Goalkeepers have 4 different 'MC' numbers on the base, i am slowly working my way through completing them all aswell. In addition to the above, i also collect low numbered blister packs, error/test figures and just recently repaints. I did have a go at repainting myself but still need to attempt the decals. ive added a picture for you all to laugh at ;-)
9. If Corinthian did decide to make some more figures, which player would you most like to see made?
Had this opportunity EVER come around, i would want them to make players from the mid 90's. These would include a Jorge Cadete, Paulo Di Canio, Harold Brattbak and the late Tommy Burns. These were the guys i enjoyed watching when growing up and held all my hopes of us taking back the Scottish FA league trophy home to Parkhead.
10. Do you have any comments you wish to make about my site?
All that i can say Craig is that this site is AMAZING!! you are truly nuts about collecting but the fact you have show cased them in both those brilliant Grandstands but also online shows the dedication and passion you have for the hobby. Hopefully this site becomes the number one archive for all collectors...old and new. Again, well done Craig.
