CELTIC 95/96

Celtic had far more figures releaesed as part of the 'SFL COLLECTION' than any of the other Scottish teams, 13 in total.

All except 1 of these figures were first time sculpts, the excpetion being 'Alan Stubbs' who was a repaint of the figure previosuly released for Bolton Wanderers as part of the 'FAPL' range.

The set featured 2 goalkeepers which was not something Corinthian did very often but due to who these 2 keepers were it would have been a tough choice to decide which one to release, so they released both.

We saw the very first release of 'Tommy Boyd' and a very unusual sculpt of 'Andreas Thom' unusual as he was sculpted with 'Elf' like ears.

Tempermental forward 'Pierre Van Hooijdonk' is my personal favourite from this set as it was a superb likeness of the player with a lot of fine detail and he really stood out from the rest.

2 of these figures were released weating the same number shirt. Those 2 were 'O'Donnell' and 'Donnelly' both were painted in the #7 shirt but there is a legitimate reason for this. O'Donnell was released first in January 1996 during the 95/96 season, Donnelly was released in October 1996 during the 96/97 season, so although both were painted in the same kit,it was infact from different seasons but Celtic wore the same kit for both the 95/96 and the 96/97 seasons.

10 of the 13 figures were never released again, making these figures very desirable amongst collectors, especially those who were only available in the multi packs. Value wise you can pick the likes of Colllins, Van Hooijdonk, McStay and O'Donnell for very little around £3, with the figures of Boyd, Thom, Donnelly and Marshall going for £5-10. The figures only available in the 4/12 packs are the hardest to find and as a rsult command the most money. If you fancy adding Hughes, Grant or Stubbs to your collection you could end up parting with anything from £10-20 for them.

A great set of figures packed full of exclusive sculpts and first time releases, would be a great addition to any collection.
